As part of the run up to Tokyo Game Show, the team at Kojima Productions held a special 10th Anniversary livestream to share what’s next for the studio. While they revealed new details on their stealth game, ‘Physint‘ for PlayStation, they also shared a brand new trailer for the upcoming Xbox-published horror game, ‘OD’.
According to Hideo Kojima, OD is a ‘completely new gaming experience’ and is running in Unreal Engine 5. Both Hideo Kojima and Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer took to the stage during the Kojima Productions 10th Anniversary Livestream to share a little more detail.
Phil Spencer shared his thoughts, saying “At Xbox, we empower creators to push boundaries, and OD is absolutely that kind of opportunity. An opportunity to support something truly visionary and development is well underway. Kojima is innovating in gameplay, story and player engagement. We’re collaborating closely, and we’re very excited for what’s next.“
Speaking about the development of OD, Kojima shared “What I’ve been creating is something that was not there before, like stealth or like a porter game, but this is totally different, even as a system. IT’s like, I want to go over the system of films and games. I can’t really say specifically, but we’re still developing and today I wanted to show the actual footage using the Unreal Engine.”

Phil Spencer reflected on the trailer, saying “When I first saw it, I saw something new, something slightly sinister, but also something that was extremely Kojima-san. OD is bold, it’s unique and it’s unmistakably from this studio, which is just incredible. We’re deeply supporting the production. It’s our technical work on Unreal that we’re doing with the team, both with the flashy ‘what you see’ on the screen, but also a lot of behind the scenes work. We have one goal in mind, which is to bring Kojima-san’s vision to life for all players everywhere, and we can’t wait for players to experience it when it’s ready.“

As previously revealed, OD will be a collaborative work with multiple creators, including film director Jordan Peele. When asked about the new subtitle, ‘Knock’, Kojima shared some detail – “Knock is a subtitle, so I’m kind of designing the ‘fear of the knock’. I announced about like Jordan Peele before about OD, so Jordan has his kind of, own, different one, and of course we’ll create as a game. It’s a different kind of fear that Jordan will do. Mine is – the ‘Knock’ is the fear.”
OD was announced back in 2023, and certainly sounds like it’ll be a series of unique, episodic horror experiences with different directors and visions. Certainly sounds interesting!

I genuinely had a hard time telling if that was real or a game, until the hands, which still look amazingly real but there I saw it.
If that’s ingame, that’s damn good. That’s also the girl from the IT reboot movies.
This is looking amazing! OD is gonna be unlike anything on the market right now, Kojima revolutionizing another genre yet again!
OD… ST! It’s the secret Halo project!
Looks good. Hope we get to see some gameplay soon-ish.
As a person who doesn’t enjoy horror games, this trailer was spooky and looks like it’s going heavy on horror.
So, hopefully horror fans will be playing this game soon.
I wonder what the game will do to set it apart from all the “house” horror games. Basically PT clones at this point, which are many.
This has been really delayed by the actors strike previously hasn’t it? On top of Covid, this game has been beset by outside factors.
Matches and candles, I’ve got all the gameplay I need right there!
