To that end, today we’re excited to announce we’ve taken a major step forward in how our platform evolves and scales across the Xbox ecosystem with the release of a new version of Roblox for the Microsoft Store and Xbox on PC.
This updated version replaces our legacy app and brings Roblox natively to the Microsoft Store and Xbox on PC for the first time, delivering several back-end improvements as well as a host of exciting benefits for players, including:
- Better performance and stability on Windows PCs
- Xbox profile integration, making it easier to connect with friends on console or PC
- Support for future Microsoft devices, including the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally handhelds.
After installing the updated version, you’ll be prompted to link your Roblox and Microsoft accounts. Moving forward, this will allow you to sign in to Roblox with your Microsoft credentials and access key features previously unavailable in the old version of our app.

Your Xbox friends list is now more integrated into the app, making it easier to play together. You’ll be able to tell who on your Connections list is an Xbox friend, and you’ll get suggestions on which Xbox friends to add as Connections on Roblox.

The original report is as follows
Roblox, the biggest game platform on the planet, has gotten a surprise new(?) release on Microsoft’s Xbox PC store with Xbox cross-platform multiplayer and co-op.

Roblox has been on Xbox consoles, PC, and Mobile for a long time. It recently launched on PlayStation but was never a direct part of the Microsoft Store/Xbox PC launcher. That all changed tonight with a surprising (at least to me) September 11th, 2025, brand new store listing titled ‘Roblox – Windows‘. It is not a Play Anywhere title and is only a 200mb install. Roblox itself is not a game; instead, it is a toolset used to host UGC (User-generated content).
What is most interesting is that the Roblox console versions are wildly different from the mobile and PC ports of the game. Console has tended to be more highly curated, whereas PC and mobile are a Wild West of potential IP theft and home to some reportedly truly vile behavior by perverts. Despite all of that, Roblox has more monthly users than Steam and has games with millions of active users per day.
This version shows as having ‘Xbox cross-platform multiplayer’ and ‘Xbox cross-platform co-op’. Which may mean it is the Xbox version for PC (instead of the PC version), but on a new storefront. Keep an eye on this article as we attempt to find out over the coming days.
