MachineGames talks Wolfenstein: “We’ve always seen this as a Trilogy”

Unfinished Business

In case you’ve missed it, the awesome folks at Noclip have released a new video series that covers the history and team at MachineGames. They are the developers of multiple entries into the venerable Wolfenstein series, and most recently, the fantastic Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. When Indy was announced as coming along before any potential direct sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, fans feared the series may be on the backburner. Thankfully, MachineGames studio head Jerk Gustafsson has now given B.J Blazkowicz fans some hope.

Towards the end of the Noclip episode (timestamp here) Machine Games Studio head Jerk Gustafsson had a little more to share on what’s next for Wolfenstein. “That journey, for B.J, even during those first weeks at id (Software), when we mapped out New Order, we still had the plan for, at least, that character. What will happen in the second one, what will happen in the third one. And I think that’s important to say because – at least – I hope – that we’re not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have a story to tell.

For many fans (myself included) this is music to my ears. As much as I adored Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, and absolutely want to see more Indy in the future, I wouldn’t want to get that at the expense of finishing B.J Blazkowicz’s story. For now though, fans will have to wait and see if that possibility becomes reality.

Indiana Jones and The Order of Giants | Review – XboxEra

I recently got to step back into Indy’s shoes in the new single player DLC for Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, and thoroughly enjoyed it. “Indiana Jones and The Order of Giants doesn’t quite rise to the incredible heights of the original game’s story, but what’s here is more of what I wanted. More incredible locations, puzzles and maze-like tombs, dripping with atmosphere and history. What more could a budding archaeologist ask for?

Stuck on this god-forsaken island. Father of two, wishes he could play more games but real life always gets in the way. Prefers shorter and often smarter experiences, but Halo is King.
