Bethesda Developer Spotlight teases some new Starfield updates

"Soon".

Bethesda have released a new developer spotlight, and this time it’s Starfield’s Lead Creative Producer Timothy Lamb who gets the all star treatment, talking about his time with Bethesda from Oblivion in 2006 all the way to their latest release, Starfield.

Tim sits down and recounts his professional journey with Bethesda, from game tester to working in a more production role, through games like The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. When it comes to Starfield, Tim describes it as ‘sort of the culmination’.

It does so many of the things that those other games do, but like, four times as much in a way? Like, everything is what we did before, plus more fidelity, more complexity. To me, Starfield was like making four games. You have your ‘I’m running around shooting aliens and space guys, you have your I’m flying around in a spaceship, shooting other spaceships, you have the ship builder game, you have the outpost game.’ Starfield, to me, was like making four games at once.

However, it’s what he says next that sparks interest for Starfield fans eager to see what’s next for Bethesda’s epic Space-RPG.

I think as it comes to Starfield, I’m really excited for players to see what the teams been working on. We have some cool stuff coming, including free updates and features players have been asking for – as well as a new DLC story. I can’t go into all the details just yet, but I will say part of the team has been focused on space gameplay to make the travels there more rewarding. We also adding new game systems, and few other smaller delights. There’s also some really interesting stuff coming down the pipe from our verified creators, there’s some fun stuff.

As we reported earlier this month, eagle eyed redditors think they found code in recent updates that suggests the arrival of ‘cruising’ in the game, and it seems to be new. Travelling from planet to planet manually has long been requested as an update to Starfield, rather than the very frequent loading screens we currently get today. As Tim says, “I can’t go into all the details just yet, but I will say part of the team has been focused on space gameplay to make the travels there more rewarding.” Perhaps that’s what’s coming next? For now though, we’ll have to await for an official reveal from the team at Bethesda.

With excellent writing, stunning graphics, and thrilling gameplay it makes the galaxy yours to explore, shape, and live in. It is a wonderous tapestry to experience your story in a way that only the best have done before.
