Grounded 2, the sequel to the enormously popular Grounded is now available on Xbox Game Pass in Game Preview and in Early Access on Steam. It’s been live for less than a day, and the developers have already shared some new information, making a Grounded 2 Early Access Roadmap available to all.
There’s plenty of genuinely great detail available here, with the planned fall update bringing things like a Building Grid, a hot pouch for your buggies and new furniture and languages, alongside quality of life updates. Looking later into Winter and 2026, the team are looking to make the game Steamdeck and ROG Ally verified, in addition to being able to ride ladybugs and new ‘water based buggies’ which suggests a large pond to explore is in our future.
New insects listed are Crickets and Earwig alongside new bosses and more. They’ve redacted a few things, so they definitely plant to have some surprises for our shrunken heroes. If you’ve not read our Review-in-Progress for Grounded 2, I managed to sink about 20 hours into this one, and in short – if you love Grounded, you’re going to love it’s sequel. It’s a great start for this new Early Access journey.
“If you’re a fan of the original game, I’d say there’s nothing ground(ed) breaking here. In fact, it’s very easy to like Grounded 2 because in many ways, it’s the first game again, albeit at a much bigger scale, with new mysteries to solve and an entirely new map to explore and survive in. The core strengths of the original are here and intact, from the gorgeous world and solid survival mechanics, to another intriguing story to unpack, but I can’t help but feel there should have been more from the start that feels truly new. Still, it is a lot of fun, and as we begin another early access journey, this peblet and clay foundation is pretty solid – I can’t wait to see what else is in store.“
