If you’ve not picked up Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, you might want to reconsider. Outside of being one of the most technically accomplished at beautiful titles on consoles and PC, it’s been getting steadily updated in the usual Ubisoft style. An upcoming Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora update adds 3rd-Person and New Game + modes.
In the video, Creative Director Omar Bouali details just what’s coming for existing fans of the game, as well as potential new players. “Since launch, your journey exploring the Western Frontier, learning the ways of the Na’vi and fighting the RDA has come to life. On December 5th, we will be releasing a free update that includes two of the most requested features of the community.”
First up, New Game + allows players to replay the story campaign with their existing inventory and skills unlocked, facing off against tougher enemies while unlocking an entirely new skills tree and even stronger gear. Great for existing fans of the game.
The headliner though, has got to be the new ‘3rd person mode’. Players will now be able “experience Pandora from a whole new perspective at the push of a button. Whether you’re exploring, fighting or simply taking in the view, third person brings a new sense of scale, freedom and immersion.” says Omar.
The team have been reworking animations, controls and camera systems to make sure it feels like a truly native mode, which is great to hear.
The update is coming on December 5th, 2025 and is happens to release just before James Cameron’s next Avatar Movie, ‘Fire & Ash’ arrives, planned to release on December 19th.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora puts a bow on an incredible 2023 for PC and console players. It’s the best type of Ubisoft open-world title. One with a focus on fun gameplay, excellent storytelling, and respect for your time. It is perhaps the best-looking game I’ve ever seen. A delight for fans of Avatar, this game is so damned good that even one apathetic to the IP like myself couldn’t help but fall in love with it.“
