Fallout: Bakersfield trailer is a stunning Fallout 1 ‘Remake’ in Doom Engine

Colour us impressed! Developer Alexander Berezin (also known as Red888Guns) has released a new trailer for their long-in-the-works project, Fallout: Bakersfield. This impressive ‘mod’ (should we even call it that at this point?) is looking to recreate Fallout 1’s Necropolis in the GZDoom Engine.

The project was first teased a couple of years ago, with the developer releasing a short teaser to celebrate Fallout’s 25th anniversary. Now a new, lengthy trailer is available, and good lord it looks awesome. The developer states that Fallout: Bakersfield is a ‘non-commercial 1993′ Doom total conversion (GZDoom WAD).‘ and that the project ‘isn’t supposed to generate financial profit for its creators.’ That being said, you can choose to support the team via Bootsy.to.

There’s a ton additional art over on Alexander Berezin’s ArtStation channel, should you wish to peruse and imagine playing this a little more than we already are. If you’re hoping this might be coming soon, you’re in for a potentially long wait.

At the end of the video a ‘release date’ text is teased, reading ‘?? . ?? . 202?’ which certainly implies that it may be a long way off – at least it’s this decade, right?
