Microsoft Edge on Mobile Now Suggests “SteamDB” Extension When Visiting Steam

"Stop Overpaying for Games"

Something I noticed this week was the Microsoft Edge mobile browser suggesting that I download the “SteamDB” extension after visiting Steam’s storefront. And it wasn’t just any old tooltip—it’s custom and I briefly thought I stumbled upon an adware site:

Well, that’s blunt.

“Stop overpaying for games” it writes before offering a giant blue button to the SteamDB extension within the browser’s store. For what it’s worth, I didn’t even know Microsoft Edge supported extensions on mobile, so this was a rather pleasant heads-up. I much prefer Edge to Chrome on Android (and really, everywhere) since the need for a Chromium-based browser is unfortunately a real problem—I’m more of a Firefox person, myself, after all. But I’ll take another feature-filled browser and the extensions currently present are quite useful: content blockers, Tampermonkey (needed for “Better XCloud” & “Better Xbox Store”), video fetchers, the whole lot are available for download.

As for the SteamDB extension, it highlights review ratings, player & game stats, and pricing:

The SteamDB extension is available on just about every modern browser currently available. Microsoft Edge for mobile can be downloaded via the iOS App Store and Android via Google Play. Copilot can be disabled from the browser’s settings—you can visit this guide for more instructions on how to do that.
