Call of Duty: WWII pulled from Xbox PC Store following reports of players being hacked

Call of Duty: WWII pulled from Xbox PC Store by Activision following reports that players are being hacked when playing the online multiplayer component of the game, giving access to players personal computers without authorisation.

The news was shared via the official “Call of Duty Updates” account over on Social Media platform X, with the team writing “Call of Duty: WWII on PC Microsoft Store was brought offline while we investigate reports of an issue.” Obviously, there’s not a huge amount of detail there, so what exactly is going on?

While Activision themselves haven’t stated the specific reason for the game being pulled from the Xbox PC store, there are plenty of clips floating around showing players PC’s being infiltrated in real-time. You can see just what the problem is in the clip below, shared by ‘Wrioh‘ on X. In it, you can see that a command prompt opens up during a multiplayer match, before displaying a notepad message to the player.

I’d only recently installed this version myself to jump into the campaign. I’m very glad that I didn’t boot up the multiplayer for a match or two! Quite when the issue will be fixed and the game made live again on the Xbox PC store is anybody’s guess, but we’ll let you know when there’s more information.
