Minecraft is finally Xbox Series X|S Optimized after today’s updates

In a surprise, alongside the Chase the Skies and Vibrant Visuals updates, Minecraft is now optimized for Xbox Series X|S.

In a blog post today, Mojang confirmed that alongside the Chase the Skies and Vibrant Visuals updates that Minecraft is now optimized for the Xbox Series X & S consoles.

Chase the Skies is available now in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and Minecraft: Java Edition, and Vibrant Visuals is available now for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition on compatible devices!*

* Vibrant Visuals graphics upgrade is currently only available for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.  Supported devices for Vibrant Visuals include Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Android, iOS, and PC.  

• Android: Adreno 640, Mali-G68, Mali-G77, or Xclipse 530 or higher 

• iOS: A12 or M1 or higher 

• PC: Running Minecraft on DX12 

To switch to Vibrant Visuals on Xbox One, Xbox One S, PlayStation 4, and some Android devices, players need to select “Vibrant Visuals” in the Video menu using the Graphics Mode drop-down. Performance may degrade for these devices. 

Marketplace Add-Ons, Skins, and Persona items will work with Vibrant Visuals, however, Worlds and Texture Packs are not compatible with the new mode at this time.

Splitscreen multiplayer is not supported with Vibrant Visuals and the game will switch to Fancy or Simple rendering if multiple players are joined locally.

Minecraft is one of the biggest games in the world, and Mojang has long been owned by Microsoft. It’s curious that it took this long to get the game optimized for the nearly five-year-old platforms. Still, game development can be weird af, so let’s enjoy this better version now that it’s finally in our hands.
