Mixtape gets a new trailer

All the hits!

Mixtape, the latest game from ‘The Artful Escape‘ developers Beethoven & Dinosaur got a new trailer today during Summer Game Fest, and it looks to be one hell of an adventure.

Mixtape certainly lives up to its name, featuring music from bands such as DEVO, Roxy Music, Lush, The Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, and more.

In terms of what the game is about, Mixtape is all about three friends that decide to embark on one last adventure, playing through a mixtape of memories to the soundtrack that defined a generation.

Per the developers, “En route to their final party together, a perfectly curated playlist draws three friends into dreamlike reenactments of their formative memories. Experience a variety of narrative vignettes exploring the pivotal moments that shaped them. Players will immerse themselves in the teenage wasteland by playing through a mixtape of joyful gameplay, from skateboarding and flying to taking photos after hours at an abandoned theme park, hitting baseballs, and putting on a fireworks show from the backseat of a car. It’s the greatest hits of the teenage experience, from the first kiss to the last dance.

We thoroughly adored The Artful Escape, with our own Nick saying “If an interactive story (or point and click adventure if you will?) that mixes in platforming and colour match game elements doesn’t necessarily sound up your alley as a gaming experience, then I still implore you to do yourself a favour and still give The Artful Escape a chance to take you on its journey and soak up the experience that it is for it’s visual and aural splendour.
As someone born in the eighties, I’m very much looking forward to playing this Mixtape for myself, which I will hopefully get to do sooner rather than later.

Mixtape is coming to Xbox Game Pass, PS5 and Steam “Soon”.

Stuck on this god-forsaken island. Father of two, wishes he could play more games but real life always gets in the way. Prefers shorter and often smarter experiences, but Halo is King.
