An Elden Ring Movie is officially in the works

Ohhhhhhhh!

As rumours of an Elden Ring movie adaptation spread like wildfire over the last couple of days, Publisher Bandai Namco has decided to just rip the band-aid off and come out with it. It’s true – an Elden Ring Movie Adaptation is officially in the works!

Posting via the official Bandai Namco US account, they shared some details, saying “We’re thrilled to announce that Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. and A24 are teaming up with writer and director Alex Garland to bring FromSoftware Inc.’s world-renowned video game ELDEN RING to life as a live-action film. We’re truly excited to bring the world of ELDEN RING to fans in a new form, outside the game. Stay tuned. The path ahead is only beginning.

Alex Garland is a big name to attach to a video game adaptation like this, as the writer and director behind films like Annihilation, Ex Machina and of course the recent Civil War. Elden Ring’s ‘lore’ co-author is of course George R.R. Martin, of Game of Thrones fame, and he’ll also be set co-produce in some fashion. (I guess I’ll never get the Wind of Winter, hey George?)

An Elden Ring Movie is officially in the works | Review | Elden Ring – XboxEra

Elden Ring was a huge critical and commercial success for Developers From Software, shipping over 30 million copies world wide.

Our Reviews Editor Jesse was just as enamoured with the game as the rest of the world, saying in his review that “Elden Ring is a masterpiece of a title, with only a few minor issues. The co-op summon system is a pain, and mounted combat doesn’t always feel the best. Other than that this game is staggeringly good in every single area.

It does for open-world games what people claimed Breath of the Wild did. Every part of the experience is elevated by an insane attention to detail. Few games have ever left me feeling so enthralled for the entirety of my playtime. Whether you’re going it solo or with a friend Elden Ring is one guaranteed to be one hell of a time.

The DLC Expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree was equally well received.

This year, the game sees a new release in the franchise with a multiplayer focused title called Elden Ring: Nightreign, which is coming on May 30th 2025. We’ll look to have a review for you closer to launch.
