Fortnite Finally Returns to the Apple App Store in the US

After a five year legal battle between Epic Games and Apple, the battle royale extravaganza is back on iOS. That’s right, Fortnite finally returns to the Apple App Store.

Back in 2020, Fortnite was removed from the App Store by Apple after Epic Games violated Apple’s policies by launching their own in-app payment system. It would have got around a 30% commission that Apple charges on all in-app purchases.

This triggered a lengthy legal battle between the two companies, with Fortnite developer Epic Games taking Apple to court for what they called unfair fees and monopolistic behaviour.

That’s all over now, and in a post on Social Media platform X, Fortnite declared they were now back online. “Fortnite is BACK on the App Store in the U.S. on iPhones and iPads… and on the Epic Games Store and AltStore in the E.U! It’ll show up in Search soon!

It’s definitely seen as a win for Epic Games, with the developer pushing Apple to open a path for all developers and companies that sell subscriptions as in-app purchases on the App Store, like Spotify and Patreon.

US-based players can download Fortnite at the following link: http://fn.gg/US-AppStore. On iPhone, the game requires the operating system on either iPhones or iPads to be 17.4 or later. The game will require approximately 577mb of free space to install.
