Mafia: The Old Country is coming this August

Mafia: The Old Country has announced its August release date in a new gameplay trailer and developer insight videos.

Publisher 2K Games and developer Hangar 13 have announced a release date and new details for Mafia: The Old Country. The game will be released on August 8th, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5/Pro, and PC. The Old Country will be a linear, narrative-focused adventure, eschewing the previous title’s open-world approach.

Two versions of the game were announced. The base edition will retail at a $49.99 MSRP, with the deluxe edition offering up “a variety of bonus items” for a $59.99 MSRP. It isn’t often that 2K put out titles of this prestige at this price point, with even titles like the PGA 2K series having $120 editions alongside an MSRP of $69.99. You can find links for both YouTube videos below, as they are rated M for mature and cannot be played via an embedded player.

Here is a snippet of 2K’s press release:

“Mafia: The Old Country is a focused, linear experience that combines quality storytelling, authentic era immersion and a refined take on the familiar Mafia gameplay,” said Hangar 13 President Nick Baynes. “That focus allows us to deliver a story that’s gritty, grounded, brutal and emotional. Embracing early 1900s era Sicily, this is a mafia origin story that follows our protagonist, Enzo Favara, as he takes the oath and works his way up Don Torrisi’s crime family.”
