After months of rumour, speculation and a whole heap of leaked screenshots, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered arrived, and it’s fair to say that player excitement was at an all time high. Not too surprising then to see that Oblivion Remastered is already 2025’s 3rd best-selling game.
After just one week in market (w/e 4.26) Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Remastered is already the 3rd best-selling game of 2025 in the US ($ sales) trailing only Monster Hunter: Wilds and Assassin's Creed: Shadows. It was the best-selling game of the week. Source: Circana Retail Tracking Service

Mat Piscatella shared the information per Circana over on Bluesky, saying, “After just one week in market Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Remastered is already the 3rd best-selling game of 2025 in the US ($ sales) trailing only Monster Hunter: Wilds and Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. It was the best-selling game of the week.”
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was unveiled in a live stream and was immediately shadowdropped, as many of the rumours suggested. As was expected thanks to all the leaks, it’s a full-on graphical overhaul of the original 2006 title. Unreal Engine 5 is running on top of the old engine, which have been updated with various quality-of-life and gameplay improvements.

It’s not too surprising to see a beloved classic do extremely well, especially after only a week on sale, and Bethesda themselves announced that the game has already had over 4 million players – though we expect it’s inclusion into Xbox Game Pass to have been enormously helpful in that regard.
Our own reviews editor Jesse was delighted with the facelift, which goes a lot further than many titles that get slapped with the ‘Remastered’ label. In his review, he said “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is about as good a remaster as you could hope for. It doesn’t look to reinvent the gameplay, instead focusing on smart tweaks where possible. What is remade are the graphics, and Virtuous has done a stupendous job keeping the feel of the original while overhauling every single pixel. It’s available on Game Pass, is fully Play Anywhere, and retails for $50 otherwise. Oblivion is an easy recommendation, as one of my favorite games is now that much better.“
If you’re keen to keep an eye on how it does beyond just a week on sale, the full sales numbers for April will release around May 21st, with May’s breakdown becoming available around June 18th.
