So, you’ve seen the news: Nintendo announced ‘Mario Kart World‘ for their newly announced Nintendo Switch 2 device, bringing Mario Kart into the current generation and us off a near 12-year streak with Mario Kart 8. This is a Nintendo staple franchise, been on nearly every single console of theirs since they started shipping boxes and handhelds—but if you’re not familiar with the gaming landscape much, you might be wondering: Is Mario Kart World going to be available on Xbox Game Pass in any capacity?
Well, no, it won’t. And it never will launch into Xbox Game Pass much less any other of Nintendo’s rival systems and services. Mario is Nintendo’s mascot character, basically what Mickey Mouse is to Walt Disney, and like all the games the company has published over the several decades of making video games, Mario Kart World will remain an exclusive Nintendo Switch 2 release. It’s how they are able to drive consumers to their consoles despite having fierce mobile and PC competition—Nintendo have largely carved their own piece of the pie in the gaming sphere through their exclusive titles, so I’m afraid you’ll have to look elsewhere as Mario Kart World will never be bound for Xbox Game Pass.
Now while you may be compelled to pick up a Switch 2 for the new Mario Kart (and I wouldn’t blame you, it’s a fun series of games! Well, except for the Wii one), the other consoles have plenty of fun kart racers for you to check out. Don’t turn away from the likes of ‘Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled‘ (this one is on Game Pass!) and ‘Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed‘! Do sleep on ‘Team Sonic Racing’, though, that game stinks.
Mario Kart World will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 consoles day one alongside the console’s launch on the 5th of June, retailing at $79.99 digitally and $89.99 for a physical copy of the game.
