Valkyria Chronicles 4
This game has slipped under the radar of just too many people—‘Valkyria Chronicles 4’ is the sequel fans of this strategy series have ever dreamt about. Essentially, think of it as a third-person XCOM of sorts, where your pieces need to be moved in range to attack opponents, all the while taking paths to avoid attacks from said stationed baddies. And of course, you do the same. Plenty of fanservice here, too.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 is available on Xbox consoles. Buy it today to remind SEGA that they are more than just a Yakuza and Sonic factory!

Light Fairytale Episodes I and II
‘Light Fairytale’ is a series of games made by “one-cat” studio neko.works. These are short but lovely little RPGs that take some very obvious influences but still manages to find its own footing. Episodes I and II have been available for years and apparently, there is a third one slated for later this year. Which I somehow doubt, as we all know what the number “three” usually entails.
Light Fairytale is available on Xbox consoles. Here’s EP1 and EP2.

Scarlet Nexus
Here’s another Bandai Namco game, but it’s fun! Players can choose between Yuito and Kasane, elite psionics each armed with a talent in psychokinesis. where each path will have different perspectives shown. It’s an action game through and through and pretty fun for the budget it got. It’s even got a TV show you can watch!
Scarlet Nexus is available on Xbox consoles. A demo is available, as well.

DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age
‘DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age’ is the first(?) Dragon Quest drop on the Xbox platform (actually, I don’t remember if those “builders” games came first) and it’s a great starting point—for one, these games are the pinnacle of old-fashioned turn-based combat. Anyone can pick these up and play without being overwhelmed with mechanical choices. Plus, if you can ignore the technical downgrade this version got, this is the definitive version of DQ11: featuring near full voice overs, orchestrated music, and more content than you could ever hope to complete (60 hours plus!).
DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age is available on Xbox consoles and PC via Play Anywhere. A demo is available as well.

OCTOPATH TRAVELLER 2
So I’m cheating a bit here: I’ve not played this one, and frankly speaking had no plans to because I really didn’t like the first. But! I am in the minority here and I’ve heard great things about its sequel ‘OCTOPATH TRAVELLER 2’. This is a series of games that have players take on the role of multiple characters across branched off stories that come together to help out one another in their own stories. Featuring a gorgeous 2D-HD aesthetic, it’s a welcome home party for fans of retro turn-based RPGs.
OCTOPATH TRAVELLER 2 is available on Xbox consoles and PC via Play Anywhere.
