25 Great JRPGs on Xbox (March 2025)

Action, puzzles, friendship, and revenge await.

Ni no Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Remastered

‘Ni no Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Remastered’ is an incredibly unique RPG game that combines turn-based combat with familiars against small and big monsters. You’ll be taking the reins of a young boy named Oliver whose mother passes due to an unfortunate (and presumably cardiac-related) incident. He gets whisked away to a brand-new world by a smart-mouthed little imp with a lantern for a nose for reasons I can’t remember. But! It’s a high-quality game, featuring animated cutscenes by Studio Ghibli and full English voice acting.

Ni no Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Remastered is available on PC and Xbox consoles through Xbox Play Anywhere and is currently available on Xbox Game Pass.

KINGDOM HEARTS – HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX –

‘Kingdom Hearts’ is a series that combines Final Fantasy and Disney characters to make an epic that spans planets, Light and Darkness, and fun action-based combat. You’ll laugh, probably cry (you had to have been there), and have barrels of fun with Sora, Donald, and Goofy across several games in this awesome package.

KINGDOM HEARTS – HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX – is available on Xbox consoles. Don’t bother playing anything past these games.

8-Bit Adventures 2

‘8-Bit Adventures 2’ surprised me late last year as a fantastic pixel-styled turn-based title. The world is full of unique encounters and environments, the combat system is fun and battles along with any potential are fine-tuned not to feel like they’re there to waste your time.

Check out our review of this one, too! 8-Bit Adventures 2 is available on Xbox consoles. A demo is up as well.

RPG Time: The Legend of Wright

‘RPG Time: The Legend of Wright’ is more adventure than it is a true RPG, but it’s a cool take in its own wright. It’s a pen-and-paper world turned game as you cross lands, mountains, and monsters on your quest for some good old fashion imaginative fun.

RPG Time: The Legend of Wright is available on Xbox consoles and PC via Play Anywhere.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

Another ATLUS-developed title, I know, but hear me out: ‘Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance’ is an incredibly unique RPG and the series is the basis of the Persona games. SMT has not graced the Xbox platform since its Japan-exclusive title and here, the game is in an even better package thanks to an all-new route not made available in its original Switch release many moons ago. Oh, and it can get hardcore.

Check out our review of the game! Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is available on PC and Xbox consoles via Play Anywhere.
