Gorgeous old-school JRPG Threads of Time releases new trailer

Threads of Time is a beautiful old-school style RPG. At today’s Humble Games Showcase 2025 they released a new character trailer.

Introducing Barza

In a press brief, publisher Humble Games stated:

Get ready to embark on an epic adventure with Threads of Time, a bold new 2.5D JRPG where time is on your side! Unveiled today during the Humble Games Showcase, meet the cunning rogue Barza as we set out on the ultimate treasure hunt in this character-reveal trailer!

The title’s YT description is: Threads of Time is an era-spanning, turn-based RPG inspired by the timeless classics. Embark on a journey through time, gather a party of charismatic heroes from across ages, and uncover a plot that threatens to unravel the past, present and future.

The title is slated for release on Xbox and Steam, though no timeframe was given. Marrying 2D pixel-art with 3D backgrounds, it looks stunning in trailers and pictures alike. Seeing the pixels lit up by the world and be reflected in water adds a depth to the graphics that gives an old-school feeling but is, in and of itself, new.

RPG fans have been feasting lately, with a seeming return to the classic turn-based systems of the past. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the Square Enix HD Remasters, and even Suikoden has made a return. If you’re a JRPG fan let us know what you think about Threads of Time in the comments below.
