Update: WBIE has confirmed Jason’s reporting with a statement:

Jason Schreier of Bloomberg is reporting that Warner Bros. is shutting down three studios and have canceled their upcoming Wonder Woman project.

In the latest round of brutal cuts WBIE is closing:

  • Monolith Productions
  • Player First Games
  • WB San Diego

They have canceled the Wonder Woman game that Monolith was working on. Player First’s Multiversus title had recently been canceled. WB San Dieo is a Carlsbad, CA based team headed up by Jon Tobias of Mortal Kombat fame.

A few weeks back we reported:

developer Player First Games and publisher Warner Bros. Games announced that Season 5 of their party brawler title ‘MultiVersus’ will be the game’s last, with microtransaction options to be phased out beginning today. This update adds two new playable characters to the roster—DC’s Aquaman and Looney Tunes’ Lola Bunny—and will begin on the 4th of February and run until the 30th of May. At that point, the game will no longer feature online modes, but offline modes will be available for play with whatever characters players have unlocked with their time in the game.

MultiVersus will also no longer be available on store platforms once online features have been shuttered, so be sure to follow the instructions in the blog post here and below to ensure you have access to your content by then.

MultiVersus saw a tumultuous release cycle, having been relaunched last year after going dark. It’s unfortunate that curtains will be closed, but Bugs Bunny would probably have to say this in the end: “That’s all, folks!”.
