Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds looks to be taking the series back to the SEGA IP crossover route of two games ago. The previous entry, Sonic Team Racing dropped the crossovers to focus on Sonic and his pals. SEGA stated the title is “Coming Soon” to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC. With rumors of a Nintendo Direct later this month perhaps we’ll get a release date then.

Here is SEGA’s press release:

“Today, as part of PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast, SEGA revealed more details surrounding the newest entry to the long-running Sonic Racing franchise, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Featuring iconic characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog™ and SEGA universes, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds also introduces a distinct racing mechanic that promises to transport Sonic racing fans into a new dimension.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds brings back courses that include land, air, and sea terrain as well as the never-before seen Travel Rings feature that affects the race in real time by transporting racers to all new CrossWorlds during the race. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds also offers the largest roster of characters in any Sonic racing game, as well as a wide variety of customizable vehicles. Players can mix and match vehicle parts, powers, and abilities to create a customized racing experience suited to their gameplay style.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is coming soon digitally and physically to PlayStation®5 (PS5®), PlayStation®4 (PS4®), Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch™, Nintendo Switch™- OLED Model, Nintendo Switch™ Lite, and PC.”
