CoD: Blops 6 has just been announced as part of Xbox Cloud Gaming at launch. It was originally not announced for the service, due to the CMA deal giving all Activision-Blizzard streaming rights to Ubisoft.
Xbox announced on social media that CoD: Blops 6, MW III, and Warzone are coming to the Xbox streaming service. The play on Xbox Streaming requires a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. In a press release, Xbox stated:
“We’ve shared our vision to deliver great gaming experiences for players across devices. Today, we’re excited to continue bringing new opportunities to enjoy some of your favorite games wherever you are. We’re thrilled to reveal that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be playable with Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) for Game Pass Ultimate members at launch and will begin rolling out to players on October 25, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. PT. In addition, we’re also bringing Xbox Cloud Gaming support to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone for Game Pass Ultimate members on the same day.”
The cloud rights for all existing Activision-Blizzard games and those for the next 15 years from the time of the deal closing were given to Ubisoft. This deal was reached with the UK CMA authority after they had originally blocked the deal over Cloud monopoly concerns. Xbox Cloud Streaming is also coming to the native Android app in the United States in November.
After a period of slow changes for the service, it has taken off since the ABK deal was closed. Starting in November Xbox users will be able to play a subset of titles they own via the Cloud Gaming service as well, according to Tom Warren.
Funny how I forgot that this is actually news since Microsoft does not own the streaming rights to the games.
