Turtle Beach was kind enough to send us their latest Stealth Ultra 700 headset. It’s Gen 3, and it’s fantastic. Featuring a dual-dongle setup that lets you swap between inputs at the push of a button, a massive up to 80-hour battery life, and a comfortable design this $200 headset is one of the best I’ve used at the price point. Does it hold up after extended use, that’s the big question, so let’s dig into it.

What’s in the box!?!?
We were sent the Cobalt Blue Edition of the headset. It is available in White and Black colorways as well. Inside the Box are the headset, an Xbox Dongle, a “USB” Dongle, and a USB-C charging cable. There is a quick start guide as well that gives you the basics on how to setup and use the headset. This thing has a lot of controls on it, thought they’re spread out enough that it was never an issue for my giant hands and fingers. You have a power button, volume knob, headset/game mix knob, and EQ button one the left side. The right has one of the more intriguing buttons, which is the ability to hop between connections on the two dongles.
There is a Bluetooth pairing button as well, and you can have dual audio between Bluetooth and a Dongle at once. One major use case for me, and a thing I love about the Xbox 1st party headset, is having my PC connected through Bluetooth while I’m direct connected to an Xbox. You can get that here as well, or swap between dongles on the fly and keep the headset paired to your phone. It’s a great feature and one I can see getting at on of use.

How is it to use
I’ve got a big noggin and the Stealth Ultra 700 just barely fits my giant dome, but it was a comfortable experience over long play sessions. The memory foam cushions and light weight work well in combination as I got none of the ear-overheating or head-clamp-like pressure I can after using my Audeze Maxwells for 4+ hours. Sound quality is solid, with a focus on the built-in equalizer settings pushing clarity over bass.
You can use the Swarm app on your phone or PC to change settings and update the firmware with a 10-band equalizer available. It all worked well and I already had the software installed as I use a Turtle Beach keyboard daily. My friends on the other end told me that the microphone quality was excellent, with the built-in AI noise cancellation doing a solid job of cutting out sounds in the background. I put a song on full blast and they could barely hear it even when I started talking.
The most important thing for any gaming headset is its performance while playing and so far it’s been a dream. The 60mm drivers gave great spatial awareness in conjunction with both DTS:X and Dolby Atmos-powered games on my Series X. The battery life feels similar to the Audze Maxwell’s, which means you’ll go weeks if not months without having to plug them in. They come with fast charging as well which means 10 minutes can get you back into the action for a few hours or more. The only real negative is that their max size barely fits my head, so as long as you don’t have an American 8+ hat size melon like me you should be ok.
Wrapping Things Up
For $199.99 it’s going to be tough to find a better pair of gaming headphones out there for your Xbox or PlayStation. I love the look of the Cobalt Blue ones they sent, they’re comfortable as hell too. The battery lasts what feels like forever and they sound fantastic. You can purchase this item via Amazon here.
