It’s no secret that the development of GSC Game World’s STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been anything but simple, and now they’ve teamed up with Xbox for a documentary. WARGAME: The Making of STALKER 2 dives into what it’s been like developing the game while working in a warzone.
For the developers, when war broke out in Ukraine following the invasion from Russia in 2022, they had to uplift their lives and move the majority of their team to Prague in order to finish development.
We were treated to a pretty awesome deep-dive into the game from the development team earlier this year, following the delay announcement from the games original release date.
The STALKER 2 developer deep dive goes on 35 minutes, as we explore “The Zone” – STALKER 2’s large open world that consists of multiple regions for players to explore. That exploration is at the whim of the player, as they will be free to explore anywhere.

You play as “Skif” and will come up against all sorts of threats in ‘The Zone’ – Powerful mutants, phantom hounds and even creatures that raise the radiation local to where it is attacking. Not only that, but you’ll have to manage your hunger, thirst and make sure you get enough sleep on your journey.
WARGAME: The Making of STALKER 2 releases on October 3rd.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is due out on Xbox Series Consoles and PC on November 20th, 2024 and yes, it’s releasing straight into Xbox Game Pass.
