Developer SpaceRocket Games and publisher Toplitz Productions last week announced that ‘Permafrost‘, their exciting survival game set within a frozen open-world urban landscape, will be available to play in October’s Steam Next Fest. Dive into a world, where survival is not just a choice, but a necessity. The game itself is slated for a 2025 release into Steam’s Early Access programme, so check out the store page here for more details (this is where the demo will go live, too).
From October 14th thru October 21 you can get your first hands-on opportunity to brave the bone-chilling arctic-like temperatures in Permafrost caused by a world changing event that has brought about the near extinction of the human race. Exploration, resourcefulness and the sheer will to survive will see players construct intricate shelters from scrap, cultivate crops to stave off hunger, and harness the power of technology to fend off threats both human and environmental.
In Permafrost the sub-zero temperature will have an effect on character capabilities as they fend for themselves in challenging conditions, hunt elusive prey, and repurpose salvaged machinery to craft the tools needed for survival. The demo offers survival game fans a unique opportunity to experience a modern post-apocalyptic setting, combining intricate resource management with deep survival mechanics.

Players of Permafrost have the opportunity to prevent the further extinction of humanity by building a shelter and establishing peace for the scattered communities that survive.
They will have the freedom to forge their own path, whether it’s banding together to rebuild society or carving out a place for themselves in the unforgiving wilderness. Construct intricate shelters from scrap, cultivate crops to stave off hunger, and harness the power of technology to fend off threats both human and environmental. Navigating the frozen remnants of civilization with vehicles and on foot plays a huge part in exploration and discovery as players strive for survival.
It’s not just the brutal elements that are a threat, in Permafrost players will use deadly combat to defend against threats using primitive weapons or firearms, whether facing hostile enemies or natural predators in this relentless battle for survival.
