The Xbox Games Showcase, followed by the Call of Duty Black Ops 6 direct will air on Sunday, June 9th at 10 am PT on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch. The show is typically a YouTube Premier which is a pre-recorded video that is treated like a live stream. YouTube tends to have the best quality as it will stream at a 4k resolution. Twitch and Facebook are limited to lower 1080p resolutions and bitrates.

Last year’s Xbox showcase featured a plethora of first and third-party titles with the majority coming Day One to Xbox Game Pass. We will have a predictions article up soon alongside a podcast the night before the show. In a blog post on Xbox Wire, Microsoft have confirmed that the latest instalment in this venerable franchise is launching Day One into Xbox Game Pass for all subscribers. Per Xbox Wire:
“We’re excited to confirm that Game Pass members will be able to jump into Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6 on day one with Game Pass.“
“As revealed last week, we will have a special Xbox Games Showcase followed by Call of Duty®: Black Ops 6 Direct on June 9, 2024, at 10am PT, where we’ll share even more details on what’s coming in this all-new Call of Duty®. Get eyes on the first in-depth look at gameplay in this dark new chapter of the Black Ops series.“
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 marks the first time the development team at Treyarch have had 4 years to work on the game, and fans are salivating at the possibilities.
According to Tom Henderson over at Insider Gaming, this years entry will be going open-world.
“Currently” Tom Henderson wrote, “the game’s open world will see the player and their squad navigate the map more akin to that of Far Cry than anything we’ve seen before in the Call of Duty universe. Players will be able to utilize vehicles to get around, as well as using a fast travel system to get from one point to the next. Although the scope of how many linear missions there will be remains to be seen, sources confirmed that some linear missions will be integrated into the game.“
The campaign, developed by Raven Software (multiplayer and zombies to be handled by Treyarch Games), will see the return of some Black Ops characters including Adler, who will be a part of your team.“
