Per Insider Gaming and Circana’s Player Engagement Tracker, Ubisoft’s recently released free-to-play first-person shooter ‘XDefiant’ has achieved 7.6 million unique players and is on track to hitting 8 million by the end of the day. Insider Gaming reports that per its sources, unique downloads means that a player has downloaded the game and has run it at least once, and that concurrent play data has reached a high of 700,000 players across all platforms.
The goal for XDefiant was apparently 5 million unique players, which the game has surpassed well-over. An impressive feat for a game that found itself going through quite a few changes over the last couple of years.
Circana’s Mat Piscatella also tweeted today that the game has, per their Player Engagement Tracker, has achieved 4th and 3rd place respectively for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles in daily active users (DAU). Tailing the likes of Fortnite and ‘Call of Duty HQ’, the former of which just had its latest season go live last week.
Once again an impressive achievement for Ubisoft’s latest free-to-play offering. If you don’t know about XDefiant, it is a free-to-play, first-person online arena shooter where you compete in fast-paced clashes. With cross-play available at launch, you will be able to play with friends on a variety of platforms including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series systems. We also have a preview of it up on our site, prior to the game’s launch, where our fair FairyEmpire had a go at the latest beta with this to say:
