The Rogue Prince of Persia Gets A New Release Date

Respect given to Hades II

Developed by Evil Empire Studio, The Rogue Prince of Persia is the latest game in the beloved franchise, but this time coming from the developers of Dead Cells and very much keeping that same “Roguelike” charm and gameplay. And we now have its final release date!

The game initially was supposed to come out May 14th, meaning it would have released tomorrow, but was delayed due to the release and popularity of Hades IIs early access. Now that some time has passed, Evil Empire has revealed the release date for the Rogue Prince of Persia to be May 27th, two weeks exactly from today. Assuming of course that Hollow Knight: Silksong doesn’t decide to release before then…

We previewed The Rogue Prince of Persia around a month back, before this release date, and we quite liked it. You can read that here or check out the video below.

Here’s a little blurb of the preview, showcasing just why we enjoyed it as much as we did.

The gameplay is fast and tight.  You have a main attack on X with a secondary on the right trigger.  The secondary requires you to build up a meter and can power various ranged weaponry, of which I could unlock a bow and a chakram during my short time with the title.  Y is a kick to clear out space, B is your dash/dodge, and A is a jump.  The “Prince of Persia” of it all comes in the game’s wall running.  It’s 2D so the wall running, bound to the left trigger, works as an extension in both the horizontal and vertical.  I was playing over the cloud with a decent amount of latency but I could still tell that things were already fine-tuned.”

Are you a Dead Cells fan? A Prince of Persia Fan? Maybe both? Let us know in the comments if you’re looking forward to this game now that we have the release date for The Rogue Prince of Persia

Like many, I started my Xbox journey with Halo CE and I've been a pretty big fan ever since. I don't know too much about the technical mumbo jumbo but I know that the future of Xbox looks bright and I'm happy to be along for the ride.
