Kareem Choudhry is leaving Microsoft according to a report by Windows Central. He leaves Microsoft behind amidst an intense leadership shakeup following an intense period of layoffs and changes in the Xbox division. With his departure comes a new shift in strategy for the Xbox brand, with AI being one of Microsoft’s biggest efforts. Currently, they are testing out a new AI Chatbot for Xbox, and DirectSR to help bring AI upscaling into DirectX titles more efficiently.
Things are certainly changing for Xbox, but where that’ll take them is still unknown. Kareem Choudhry was one of the biggest contributors towards Xbox hardware and had an incredible focus on innovation and consumer satisfaction. His focus on improving the Xbox brand during the Xbox One era through initiatives such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and Backwards Compatibility showed that Xbox was the best place to play, old and new, on anything with a screen. Microsoft hasn’t published an official report yet about Choudhry’s departure, and we do not know who his replacement will be.
