In a sea of layoffs, studio closures and depressing industry trends, it’s always a pleasure to write about a new studio rising from the ashes and today, former Respawn/EA Game Director Stig Asmussen has revealed Giant Skull.

“The Giant Skull studio culture is founded on creativity and curiosity. We have assembled a talented team renowned for immersive storytelling, heroic combat and exhilarating traversal, and our goal is to craft a rich universe that players will want to lose themselves in for years to come.”
Stig Asmussen, CEO, Giant Skull
It’s described as a “new AAA game Studio dedicated to building gameplay-drive, story immersed action-adventure games set in captivating worlds”.
Giant Skull is predominantly based in Los Angeles, but has additional remote developers around the world, which is probably a good idea, because I hear LA is bloody expensive. They’re building a new game from the ground up, and some of the talent on board includes:
CTO, Jon Carr (Star Wars Jedi: Survivor), Art Director, Patrick Murphy (Fortnite), Lead Producer, Lauren McLemore (Fortnite), Design Director, Jeff Magers (Star Wars Jedi: Survivor), Animation Director, Brian Campbell (Fortnite) and COO/CFO, Anthony Scott (Arkham Series)
Their website has a sort of console you can interface with, and you could perhaps try typing some of these codes and see what you get. Examples of some the things you can try are:

CULTURE
TEAM
Stig is an accomplished video game director, and we wish him and his new team the best. His last game, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, despite some performance issues, was warmly received. In our review, we said:
“STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor continues Respawn’s run as one of the best in the industry. It is an incredible accomplishment, blending top-tier gameplay and narrative in a package few games can match. Performance during my review was rough, but if they can smooth it out then this is a game that no one should miss. For fans of STAR WARS, this is the game we have been waiting for. One that fixes the mistakes of the previous, and soars to heights we could have only dreamed of.”
