RoboCop: Rogue City now allows you to turn frame-gen on but it does nothing

An update hit has added a toggle for AMD’s Frame Generation tech support to RoboCop: Rogue City on Xbox Series consoles.

Announced today, alongside Remnant II, for PC it turns out that Rogue City received and update on Xbox Series consoles to activate frame gen there as well. After testing the title at its 30fps targetted quality mode the toggle does nothing on Xbox consoles for it. Performance mode felt the same as before this patch, but we lack the hardware to test it out.

We gave Robocop a 7 back at launch, calling it the ‘good kind of 7’

Robocop: Rogue City is a loving homage with a low budget that knows exactly what it should be.  You are Alex Murphy, anti-Nuke enthusiast, and Robotic policeman.  Along with your partner Lewis, you’re looking to clean the streets of Detroit from slimeballs and scum.  Over the course of a dozen or so hours you’ll shoot off dicks, throw perps 50 feet, and have a damned good time doing it.  There are issues of course, the writing is rough when it tries to be serious and sometimes it looks like a weird asset flip Russian game from 2004.

XboxEra review

This would have been the first game to support FS3 and frame generation on the Xbox Series consoles, and while that toggle shows up it doesn’t seem to do anything.

Robocop Rogue City describes itself as:

Become the legendary part man, part machine, all cop hero and bring justice to the dangerous, crime-ridden streets of Old Detroit. Uphold the law by any means necessary: With your powerful Auto-9 or one of the other 20 weapons available, eradicate criminals throughout this explosive first-person adventure. Your cyborg strength and cybernetic abilities can be upgraded as you progress, to make you an even more formidable law enforcement officer. It’s up to you to decide how to fulfil your prime directives: Explore open areas and complete your objectives according to your own sense of justice.

Finding evidence, interrogating suspects and maintaining public order are just some of your daily tasks as a police officer. But don’t take decisions lightly: your choices can determine the fate of citizens and the result of your mission. An original story set in the world of RoboCop: The city of Old Detroit has been hit by a crime wave, with a new enemy threatening the peace and order. Your investigation leads you right into the heart of a shadowy conspiracy in an original story that takes place between RoboCop 2 and 3, with striking locations to explore and familiar faces to meet. Peter Weller, the original RoboCop actor, is even back on duty to voice the cybercop. Get ready to…

Discussion:

  1. Love the fact the articles hook is right on the title!

  2. I honestly couldn’t think of a non-clickbait way to just say what the story is, haha

  3. Is there a reason fsr 3 wouldn’t work on x? I haven’t really kept up with the reconstruction stuff.

  4. It only works on 60fps, from the article the performance mode doesn’t seem to feel any different and no way to test it. So, we will have to wait for someone to check if it does work on performance mode.

  5. If they had an unlocked mode it could help. As is they have locked 30 and 60 performance targets. Feels like it was just put in as a toggle because they updated it that way on pc
