Two Xbox games announced for Nintendo Switch

Two great games arrive on new platforms

In a special episode of the Xbox Podcast earlier this month, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer confirmed that four Xbox exclusives are due to arrive on other platforms at a later date. He referred to this new strategy as an “experiment” and that the games planned were all over a year old and either smaller or more community-focused titles. He didn’t want to reveal exactly what they were, desiring to leave the messaging to the teams announcing the games.

Today Nintendo held their long-rumoured (and much desired!) Direct, and we got our first look at two of the games coming to the platform.

Pentiment

Pentiment, a game we really enjoyed at launch – you can read our review here or watch it above – is arriving tomorrow on Nintendo Switch!

When it released, our review editor Jesse said:

Nothing about Pentiment feels forced to try and earn the most money, instead, it is a labor of devotion to telling a brilliant story at a specific period and place in our past. Life may rarely go the way we want, but there is power in our choices and I’m glad that Xbox allowed this game to be made. It’s a unique, dazzling work of art that will stand the test of time for as long as we remember it.

Grounded

A passion project from Xbox Game Studio’s Obsidian, Grounded is a “Honey I shrunk the kids” Style survival game with fully featured 4 player co-operative play.

Fight against giant insects, and build incredible structures, weapons and armour to survive in the backyard. And now you can do it on Switch when it launches on April 16th, 2024! And the really good news? On release, Grounded will support cross-platform, online co-op between Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch. Good luck out there!

Stuck on this god-forsaken island. Father of two, wishes he could play more games but real life always gets in the way. Prefers shorter and often smarter experiences, but Halo is King.
