Xbox Roadmap

2024

Xbox finally hit their stride in 2023, with a wide variety of titles landing for Xbox gamers and more importantly, Game Pass subscribers.

Will 2024 continue that trend?

We think so, so we’ve gathered a list of everything we know coming directly from Microsoft’s extensive first party teams, scheduled to release at some point this year, and all announced projects beyond this year.

Build a nation and lead your people throughout history to the pinnacles of human achievement as you explore new lands, develop arts and culture, conduct diplomacy, and go head-to-head with your rivals to prove you are the greatest ruler ever known. It’s Your World Now.

Led by a team of strategy veterans at Oxide Games (the folks behind Ashes of the Singularity) they claim Ara will be the ‘next evolution’ of Turn Based Strategy. We’ll find out in 2024 if they are right.

The Belfry stands as a beacon of hope and safety amongst the ruins of humanity and the City of Numbers, with monsters lurking right outside the tower’s walls. You are an Ace, born anew from the spirit realm with the skills, the grit, and the determination to protect the people of the Belfry. With spirit companions fighting by your side, you are destined for battle.

If you’re looking for something that scratches that Castle Crashers itch, but with added depth, player customisation and incredible combat, you’d be wise to keep an eye on Towerborne. We got to try this out in person at Gamescom 2023, and we can’t wait to play more!

Pursue your dream of an aviation career with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This brand-new simulator is designed to take advantage of the latest technologies in simulation, cloud, machine learning, graphics and gaming to create the most sophisticated, immersive and awe-inspiring flight simulator of all time. To achieve this unprecedented level of accuracy, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is powered by the significantly evolved Asobo Studio engine.

The reboot of Microsoft Flight Simulator was a triumph for the genre back in 2020, bringing the entire planet to life with technology and an incredible game engine. While it’s not for everyone, Simulator fans are sure in for a treat when Microsoft Flight Simulator takes to the skies in 2024.

Explore the Living Lands, a mysterious island filled with adventure and danger. As an envoy of Aedyr, you are sent to investigate rumors of a spreading plague with a secret that threatens to destroy everything. Can you save the island and your soul from the forces threatening to tear them apart?

Obsidian are true masters of the craft when it comes to Western RPGs, and Avowed looks to continue that trend. Set in the same game universe as Pillars of Eternity, players can expect plenty of incredible quests, magic and mystery when Avowed launches at some point in 2024.

The sequel to the award winning Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Senua returns in a brutal journey of survival through the myth and torment of Viking Iceland. Intent on saving those who have fallen victim to the horrors of tyranny, Senua faces a battle of overcoming the darkness within and without.

This sequel to Hellblade has been a long time coming, having been first revealed alongside the Xbox Series X at The Game Awards in 2019. We’ve seen plenty of incredible footage since then, and we can finally look forward to getting our hands on the game in 2024.

MachineGames, the award-winning studio behind the recent Wolfenstein series, are developing their own Indiana Jones game, an action-adventure that puts players in the leather jacket of the legendary archaeologist.

For the young’uns, it’s all about Tomb Raider or Nathan Drake. For us old people, it’s always been Indiana Jones. We’re really looking forward to this one.

This years Call of Duty entry is coming from developers Treyarch, and is the first game in the series to have a 4+ year development cycle. While it hasn’t been announced yet, it IS a guaranteed Microsoft 1st Party release, thanks to the recent successful acquisition of Activision Blizzard King.

Reporting from our friends at Windows Central suggests that this years Call of Duty game will be titled Black Ops: Gulf War, with a heavy focus on the CIA and the conflict in Iraq with Operation “Desert Storm”.
