It’s been a busy few days for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, as the game recently celebrated its 4 year anniversary and was just optimized for Xbox Series X|S. The game has also reached a lot of players according to Will Potter of Ninja Theory.
On Xbox Wire, Potter was interviewed by Mike Nelson, Xbox Wire Editor, and revealed that Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has been played by “6.3 million total players across all platforms”.
This is also a cool opportunity to point out that we have now had a total of 6.3M players across all platforms 🎉 https://t.co/ccN61FAYET

The last reported player count for Senua’s Sacrifice came in July 2020 when Ninja Theory announced the game had reached 3.5 million players. Prior to that announcement the latest confirmed player count was 1 million players back in June of 2018.
The game originally launched on PC and PS4 in August of 2017, and was later ported to Xbox consoles and Switch. Developer Ninja Theory was acquired by Microsoft in 2018, and are currently working on a sequel to Senua’s Sacrifice, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II. The sequel will be exclusive to Xbox platforms as Ninja Theory is now an Xbox Game Studio.
