Brooklyn, NY. July 13th, 2022. Today, Half Mermaid Productions announces that it is delaying the release of its forthcoming Interactive Movie Trilogy, “IMMORTALITY” to August 30th 2022.

“It has taken decades for Marissa Marcel’s work to find the light of day, so we’re happy to spend a month more to ensure the experience is as polished as possible,” said Sam Barlow. “We hope everyone anticipating the game will understand this necessary evil and continue to prepare to dig into the most complex mystery I have tried to answer yet: what happened to Marissa Marcel?”

IMMORTALITY is the most expansive and ambitious project Barlow has created and was recently part of the Official Selection at the Tribeca Film Festival. The game will launch on August 30th on Steam, GOG, Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10 including Game Pass, and on iPhones, iPads and Android devices via Netflix Games. The soundtrack from acclaimed composer Nainita Desai will be released on Lakeshore Records to coincide with the launch.

IMMORTALITY

An Interactive Movie Trilogy

Marissa Marcel was a film star. She made three movies. But none of the movies were ever released. And Marissa Marcel disappeared. An interactive trilogy from Sam Barlow, creator of Her Story.

IMMORTALITY is Sam Barlow’s first return to the horror genre since Silent Hill: Shattered Memories in 2009. In this game, players get to explore a treasure trove of newly unearthed footage from the three lost movies of Marissa Marcel. By using a magical new mechanic – the ability to ‘match cut’ from a visual at any point in a piece of footage  – players navigate via cinematic language to dig up the secrets beneath the surface.

Written with Allan Scott (Don’t Look Now, Queen’s Gambit), Amelia Gray (Mr. Robot, Maniac) and Barry Gifford (Wild at Heart, Lost Highway), IMMORTALITY is a boldly ambitious attempt to deconstruct cinema whilst riffing on the mechanics of Pokemon Snap. Barlow’s goal has been to create a game as messy and personal, as wild and unconstrained as his favorite movies and books.
