”We want to treat Call of Duty like Minecraft” Says Phil Spencer, Aims To Keep Series On All Platforms, Xbox Streaming Device “Years Away”

During Wall Street Journal’s Tech Live, Sarah Needleman interviewed the Head of Xbox Phil Spencer and spoke about the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard. Phil Spencer during the interview stated that “Call of Duty specifically will be available on PlayStation. I’d love to see it on the Switch, I’d love to see the game playable on many different screens. Our intent is to treat CoD like Minecraft“.
He also stated that while series such as Call of Duty remain cross-platform, some titles like Starfield are going to be exclusive to Xbox, stating how Nintendo has Mario and Zelda.

When speaking of the prototype streaming box Xbox Keystone, Phil states that while it was something that they’re “incubating internally“, it is still years away. Right now, their focus is on the Xbox Mobile store which aims to compete with Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store.
