Microsoft and Korean telecom company SK Telecom announce plans for 5G cloud gaming

The Korean telecom company SK Telecom has announced that they’ve started a partnership with Microsoft to deliver cloud gaming to players via 5G connections. As a result of this partnership, the two companies will launch the public preview of Project xCloud via 5G in October.

Korea is the fourth largest gaming market in the world. Mobile gaming has been a big part of the Korean gaming markets success. Now, SK Telecom and Microsoft are trying to take a piece of that mobile gaming pie with Project xCloud.

SK Telecom has over 1 million 5G subscribers in South Korea. This means it is the biggest 5G provider in the country.

It seems game streaming is becoming more and more viable by the day.
