Developer Player First Games and publisher Warner Bros. Games have teased a date for news regarding the relaunching of their party fighter ‘MultiVersus’. This comes after a “mic check” Tweet popping up well over nine months after the game was originally taken offline as a self-described “hiatus”.
Whatever the case may be, MultiVersus will be coming back hopefully stronger than ever. A fair number of complaints ranged from content draughts (months without new characters) to a lack of a road map for what was supposed to be a live service fighter.
If you need a refresher on MultiVersus, it was a party fighting title that pit the likes of Bugs Bunny, Batman, Lebron James, and the like against one another across various Warner Bros. themed stages. First launched in Summer of 2022 as an “open beta”, it went offline a year later with a relaunch aimed for early 2024 citing the following:
Why is the MultiVersus Open Beta closing?
The MultiVersus Open Beta has been an important learning opportunity and a stepping stone to the next phase of the game. There is still a lot of work to do, and we have a clearer view on where we need to focus, specifically on the content cadence of new characters, maps and modes to provide more ways to enjoy the game, along with netcode and matchmaking improvements. We’ll also be reworking the progression system and looking at new ways for players to connect with friends in the game. To do this the right way, we will be closing the MultiVersus Open Beta on June 25, 2023. As part of this process, we’ll be pausing updates and taking the game offline as we prepare for the launch of MultiVersus, which we are targeting for early 2024.
Folks waiting for a Toon-up won’t have to wait much longer.
I hope the games relaunch goes well, if they can keep up with the demand of Gaas maybe this game and MK1 would be e ough to have WB consider more single player games.
Let’s Go!!!
Didnt like the GAAS shit.
