Creative Director of Forza Horizon 5 Leave Playground Games To Form New Studio

Mike Brown, known best for his latest work on Forza Horizon 5, has left Playground Games according to Eurogamer, taking along a few other key staff members to form a new independent studio called Maverick Games in good ol’ Leamington Spa. While it is unknown what project they’re currently working on at Maverick, they claim it will be a “premium open-world game for consoles and PC”. It would be best to assume we aren’t going to be hearing much about this new title for a good few years, but it’s always great to see new studios being opened to provide new experiences.

The game industry is no stranger to key personnel departures, after all Halo Infinite’s Creative Director had left 343 Industries before that game had even come out. At least it seems in this case it was less about a troubling development and more about doing something new, and I can’t wait to see what they’ve got up their sleeve.
