Starfield and Redfall have been delayed to the first half of 2023, deep dive gameplay reveals for both “soon”

In a surprising news dump just weeks before both games were set to be unveiled at Xbox’s Summer Games showcase, both Starfield and Redfall have been delayed into the first half of 2023.

In a statement on Twitter, the official Bethesda account stated incredible ambitions and more time being needed as the reason for the delay. A gameplay deep dive for both will be “soon”.

Arkane’s twitter account stated that Redfall is Arkane’s most ambitious game yet and they are planning to show the game “soon”.

Bethesda Game Studio’s Twitter account also cited the need for more time, and commited to showing the game soon.

The news of Redfall being delayed is not a massive surprise, but Starfield felt like a near lock considering it had already announced a release date last year. This undoubtedly makes the rest of the year for Xbox incredibly thin with no games currently announced from Xbox’s first party at the moment.

While the news is dissapointing, this is clearly the right move if it makes both games better. While 2022 is looking like a bust for Xbox, 2023 has the potential to be a pretty great year for the platform if the stars can align.
