Ninja Theory founder Tameem Antoniades says that “Hellblade 2 will make Hellblade look like an indie game.”

Ninja Theory founder Tameem Antoniades was recently interviewed by NME.com and discussed his history in the gaming industry and his overall ambitions as a founder of a gaming company.

The interview was incredibly interesting and brought a lot of great insights, but one quote from the Ninja Theory boss stood out and sets a high expectation level for their upcoming game, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.

Antoniades says in the interview that “I think Hellblade 2 will make Hellblade look like an indie game.” At first glance, this quote is a bit strange. Hellblade was an indie game. This game, originally a Playstation 4 exclusive, was created by a small team with a limited budget, long before Microsoft’s acquistion of Ninja Theory in 2018.

However, when you parse the statement further, you understand what he is saying. Hellblade II will be such an improvement over the first game that the original will look weaker in comparison. This sets massive expectations, as the original entry in the series still holds up to this day.

Fortunately, we have already seen Hellblade II in action, and it gives confidence that Antoniades’ boisterous comments will meet reality. Ninja Theory are one of the best studios in the world, and under the Xbox Game Studios banner, they are set up to do their best work yet.
