Joseph Staten returns to Halo

Earlier this month the halo community was disappointed to learn that Halo: Infinite, the sixth mainline title in the series and third game of the 343 industries series would be getting delayed out of the holiday 2020 window to coincide with the launch of their next generation of console devices. It was clear however from the gameplay showing in July 2020 that had divided the halo community, that extra love and care were needed with the franchise.

Joseph Staten confirmed today that he will be moving over to help 343i ship the game in a leadership role, specifically with the campaign section, a halo veteran since the 90s, Staten has worked on Halo 1, 2 and 3, developing story content and cutscenes which are often reminisced with adoration in the halo community.

This is not a directly outside move for Staten, who since 2014 has been working with the Xbox Game Studios development group as a narrative and story consultant, recently working with DONTNOD on their soon to be released game Tell Me Why.

This role does not seem to indicate at this time that a major leadership shakeup is on the cards at 343i as some rumors earlier this week had suggested. Bonnie Ross and Chris Lee both retain their leadership positions within the studios’ organisation.
