Today Microsoft put a blogpost on Xbox Wire online to talk about xCloud in Western Europe. Registrations for the preview program of this cloud streaming service is online right now. But rollout could be slow and could take some time due to COVID-19.
Registration for Project xCloud Preview is now open for people in the following countries (Android only):
- Belgium
- Denmark
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Ireland
- Italy
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Spain
- Sweden
Rollout will be slow due to COVID-19. Microsoft doesn’t want to strain the networks too much, as the European Union has requested big services to lower bitrates or remove certain features. This is why Microsoft has decided to turn off features such as uploading custom gamerpics and backgrounds on Xbox Live.
The preview for Western Europe is currently only available for Android users. When the rollout will begin hasn’t been announced yet. But Microsoft asks for patience, while they deal with this unique situation.
