Big changes continue to happen at Xbox as the company has just begun integration of Activision-Blizzard-King. The Xbox team is seeing a reorganization including promotions for key figures of the company. The details of this reorganization were first reported by Tom Warren of The Verge.
Phil Spencer will remain as the head of the entire company as “CEO of Gaming.” Sarah Bond has been promoted to “President of Xbox” and will be responsible for “bringing together Devices, Player & Creator Experiences, Platform Engineering, Strategy, Business Planning, Data & Analytics and Business Development.”
Matt Booty, who has been responsible for overseeing Xbox Game Studios, has been promoted to “President of Game Studios and Content” and will have the added responsibility of now overseeing all of Bethesda. Phil Spencer commented on what this role will do for the company, saying, “We believe that an expanded gaming content organization — one that enables Xbox Game Studios and ZeniMax’s development studios to collaborate effectively together — will empower those world-class studios to do their best work in growing our portfolio of games players love.”
Things should continue to evolve over the coming months as current Activision-Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick is expected to leave at the beginning of 2024. Xbox is bigger than ever before, and we will have to monitor how the company manages to navigate the future.
