A ‘New Dawn’ Marks Battlefield 2042’s Season 5 Launch Today

A new map, weapons, and gadgets await you.

Developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts have announced today’s launch of Battlefield 2042’s Season 5 launch. Featuring a new map ‘Reclaimed’ inspired by Battlefield 4’s. Besides a new battle pass, the addition of the XCE Bar, GEW-46, BFP.50 as well as a set of three new grenades will be available for players to acquire. Squad management returns and later in the season will the seventh and final reworked launch map ‘Hourglass’ return to the game.

  1. On vacation so I can’t check this out just yet - I’ve found myself falling into BF2042 in a way that I haven’t since BF3/4. I know there’s been a ton of criticism since launch, but it’s been a blast for the lost few months.

    The game is in a pretty good spot right now. There’s still some traces of half-baked stuff, but they adjusted a lot of stuff since launch, especially the maps which have almost all been rebuilt.

    Gameplay is really good so if you’re not weirded out by the mish-mash of weapons, it’s a lot of fun !
