Square Enix has announced Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate during its Dragon Quest 35th Anniversary Special livestream.
This is the first game in the main series since 2017’s Dragon Quest XI, which was originally released on PlayStation 4 and then found its way into Xbox One (and Game Pass!) last December.
The creator of the series, Yuji Horii, said that the studio is aiming at a simultaneous release worldwide and that he could not reveal what platforms the game would launch on… yet.
The whole world is different. It is a darker impression, like a Dragon Quest for adults – that is what I would say. (…) It is about having options. You have to choose your own way on how to play. There will be decisions to be made by the main character that may change the whole game.
