The Coalition have announced they are moving their resources to Unreal Engine 5. In a Blog post, The Coalition said that “As we look to future games, we’re excited to start shifting our resources to next-gen development using Unreal Engine 5. Gears of War has always been at the front of Unreal Engine development – as a breakout 720p title for Xbox 360 through last year’s 120FPS multiplayer update for Xbox Series X|S – and we’re excited to continue that tradition by developing on UE5 for multiple new projects in the coming years.”

The most interesting part is of course the “multiple new projects” line. There have been rumors that The Coalition have been working on something new and possibly not related to Gears, but there has been no official confirmation of anything as of now.
The Coalition does mention that the move to UE5 will be an undertaking, saying that “we will not be announcing any new projects or titles for some time.” So don’t expect The Coalition at this E3, or possibly even the next one. Whenever they are ready to show what their working on, it is sure to be a stunning game.
