Last month it was big news. Microsoft was set to acquire Discord for $10 billion. Discord approached Microsoft to be bought, as it was looking for more capital. Now the Wall Street Journal has revealed Microsoft and Discord have ended talks about a possible acquisition by Microsoft, as Discord is looking to go public.
It’s not hundred percent off the table, as the Wall Street Journal writes: ”Those talks ended without a deal, though it is possible they could be rekindled in the future, some of the people said.” But it seems as of now Discord will remain an independent company looking to go public, as a healthy (but not profitable) company with 140 million monthly active users.
