Joe Staten is a longtime Halo alumni, most well-known for being a key member of the original Bungie team that shipped some of the best games in the franchise. He recently rejoined 343 after the July demo and ensuing “Craig” driven debacle as “project lead” for the campaign of Halo Infinite.
Now, according to his LinkedIn page, he is the “Head of Creative” at 343 industries. What exactly does this mean? Well, we understand that usually Head of Creative means you oversee the creative aspects of the entire project. Anything that has a creative touch or idea is overseen by head of creative.
This is more responsibility than campaign director, and likely means Staten now has more creative control over the project. It was initially thought that he was just there to land the plane. Now, he may be adding his own creative touches.
What does this mean for the future of Halo? It’s hard to say right now. Will Staten stay at 343 after Halo Infinite ships or move on to other projects?
That question remains unanswered. What we can say is, just like all the other Halo fans out there, we’re looking forward to hearing and seeing more on Halo Infinite throughout the year.
