Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition turns 1 this month and it seems Microsoft is celebrating it with something fun. They’ve added a battle royale to the classic real time strategy game. But that’s not all, there’s also other additions in the biggest update since the game launched in 2019.
Age Royale?
Yes, that’s right. World’s Edge, Tantalus and Forgotten Empires have added a new game mode to Age of Empires. Battle royale. In this mode players start with two hero units and will need to scout the map for buildings and additional units. Resources are obtained via special supply buildings. There will be 8 players and, in battle royale fashion, the map shrinks so you’ll need to pay attention to where you’re going.
Quick Play
In a new update to matchmaking, Quick Play has been added tot he game. This makes sure players can join games without having to create lobbies. The games are unranked, so they’re very well suited for your quick Age fix.
